Terms and Conditions

This competition is open to poets aged 11-25, from the UK.

Entry is free.

Poems will be judged in three age categories: 11-14 years, 15-18 years and 19-25 years.

The deadline is 31 March 2016. Judges from Oxfam and The Poetry Society will select a winner and several commended in each age category, which will be announced on the Young Poets Network. Winning poets will be contacted for permission to share the poem publically or the permission of a parent/guardian if you are under 18.

Written poems and audio or video recordings of performance poems are eligible. You can send as many poems as you like. Written poems must not exceed 40 lines and audio/video recordings of poems must not exceed two minutes.

Individual entrants should include their date of birth and name with their poem.

School entrants should fill out the permission form and include it with entries. This must include the name of the teacher, school and contact details and the name, and first name, date of birth and poem name of entrants.

It is not possible to return entries. Please do not send originals.

The winner and commended poems in each age category will be published on the Young Poets Network and Oxfam websites and poets will receive a Young Poets Network notebook.

Each school that enters will be entered into a prize draw to win a poet workshop for their school. No purchase necessary.

Copyright of poems remains with the author. Winners will be contacted for permission to publish.
